Facing Solar South

Mounting the collector stand took way too many trips to Lowes.

First the 3" lag screws were too short. Second the drill bits were too short. Third the new drill bit broke. Forth the 6" lag screws were long enough but would not tighten much before they stripped and turned. Lastly we bought all thread 1/4" X 3' and cut them into 6" lengths and ran them in the 6 outside points and with nuts and washers on top and bottom it will take a tornado to remove the collector now.
Next came two tubes of LOCTITE 10 oz. White Window, Door, and Siding Polyurethane on each lag and all thread and around the three feet to keep out the aqua.

Finding South by holding the compass up off the metal roof seemed to beat laying it down . Otherwise the south-north needle kept leaning south/east - north/west.
